Product Information

HexaDuct is a complete CAD solution for HVAC system Design. It has an innovative way of creating HVAC Ducting network (Ductwork) from simple line network.

This HVAC Software is also a good tool for HVAC project managers due to its in built Document manager and capability to handle multiple files in a project.

With its ability to create impressive walkthrough in and around 3D solid Model of HVAC system, one can visualize the actual HVAC system in advance and can figure out any possible problems or interference which can not be detected in 2D drawings.

This HVAC Software has many ready to use reports like BOM, Acoustic material required, Thermal Insulation required, Total area of sheet metal required for ducting etc.

With very little efforts, you will calculate and design HVAC system and produce ductwork and piping plans of outstanding quality ready for construction and fabrication

HexaDUCT has many advantages over other HVAC system design tools      Know more about it...

HexaDuct library of HVAC components

HexaDUCT offers wide range of heating and air conditioning (HVAC) components in 2D as well as in 3D Model Format. Due to its Object Oriented approach every HVAC component has its own properties and Model defination script. Model defination script uses rule based scripting language. This makes HexaDUCT possible to generate 3D as well as 2D Model of the object. Properties of all HVAC components are defined in the back end database. Every HVAC Component from the library is generated on the fly. The advantage is that if any property of the HVAC component is changed, its reflected in its graphical appearance.

  • Diffusers (Rectangular, Round) - New Models can be added in the back end database
  • Grille, Slot Diffusers, cassettes - New Models can be added in the back end database
  • Main Unit with Trap Door - Additional models can be added in the back end database
  • Elbow - Both ends can be of different size as well as shape
  • S Bend - Round as well as Rectangular
  • Concentric and Eccentric Reducer - Both ends can be of different shape
  • Ducts - Round as well as Rectangular
  • plenum - Calculate plenum size before placing it in the drawing
  • Tee - outlet1 and outlet2 can be of different size as well as shape with respect to inlet
  • Cross - outlet1, outlet2 and outlet3 can be of different size as well as shape with respect to  inlet
  • Collar - Round as well as Rectangular
  • Dampers
  • Tail End
  • Flexible Duct
HVAC Components underlined can have optional acoustic or thermal lining (Internal or external)

Duct Routing

Designing of Duct Routing is an important phase of heating and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
There are many factors which directly affects the performance of heating and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Undersized Ducts, Improper selection of duct material, Improper selection of matal sheet thickness, Too high or too low design velocity, Unnecessary use of sharp bends or excessive bends in duct work, Improper acoustic or thermal insulation, etc

With the help of HexaDuct tools duct routing work becomes easy and less error prone. Due to HexaDUCTs object oriented architecture, CAD knowledge is NOT mandatory.
Using simple steps shown below HVAC Duct Routing can be accomplished

  • Place diffusers, main Units and/or plenum.
  • Join diffusers with plenum or main unit using routing lines         Learn more about it...
  • Run Ducting Tool to generate ducting from routing lines         Learn more about it...
  • Use Power tools to accomplish various tasks
  • Use Cross Section, and reporting tools.

    Power Tools

Power tools simplifies the complex work of HVAC Ducting and its Modification,
Various HexaDUCT Power tools are listed below

  • Concentric to Eccentric :When the HVAC ducting is running along side a wall, it is necessary to make the side facing to the wall to be aligned with that wall. All concentric Tee's, Reducer's needs to be changed to eccentric form. The ducting also needs to be shifted. The complexity increases if branching is done in theses segments. Concentric to Eccentric tool does this job in one go. User needs to select the TEE or Reducer and entire ducting after its outlet1 including the branching if any will get adjusted.              Show me How to do it...

  • Replace Tee with Collar :There are two common ways to take out the branching from the main Duct. By placing a TEE and taking out branch, or by connecting branch to main duct by collar. Many times we also need to replace a TEE with Collar and Reducer pair. Replace Tee with Collar tool is a handy tool which simplifies this job. User can select a TEE to get it replaced by collar-Reducer pair or select main duct and branching duct to join them by collar. Branching Duct is stretched or trimmed if required.                      Show me How to do it...

  • Network Lining :It is often required to insulate the ducting for either Heat Loss (Thermal lining) or to reduce the noise level (Acoustic lining). Noise level is highest at the Fan End, therefore normally Acoustic lining is required at Fan End, while heat loss precaution needs to be taken at the far end of ducting. Network Lining tool makes things simpler by traversing network and adding lining whereever required. Specify the percentage covarage to be done of the total ducting run length and tool does its job                          Show me How to do it...

  • Change Size :It is often required to change the duct size (width or height) due to external constraints. While changing the size (width or height) it is important to maintain the cross sectional area of duct. At the same time user also needs to modify the adjoining components sizes to match ends. Change Size tool takes care of both issues and gives flexibility of either changing width or height of the duct.                           Show me How to do it...

  • Place Tail End :HVAC Duct detailing work depends on for what purpose the drawing is to be used. If the drawing is for fabrication purpose or for realistic modeling, it is necessary that all open ends of the ducts to be shown closed using END CAP. Place Tail End tool helps user to close open ends of all ducts with minimum effort. This tool also extends its capabilities to close the end and take out the branching if required                                                                                                                                                           Show me How to do it...

  • Dimensioning :Dimensioning is one of the important aspect of any finished drawing. Length, width and height values are the minimum requirements of duct dimensioning. Sometimes it is also necessary to mention the BOD length when different ducts are running at different elevations, Some experts also follow the practice of specifying the shape of duct and air quantity (CFM). Duct Dimensioning tool is designed to tackle all these issues. Apart from L X W X H this tool also allows to specify air Quantity (CFM), shape of duct and BOD.                                                                                                                                                           Show me How to do it...

  • acoustic Lining :If an HVAC System is properly designed and installed using good quality components, its operation will be extremely quiet. To ensure optimum noise control it is required to add acoustic lining to components. Depending on the surroundings acoustic lining can be internal or external. Some times partial lining of ducts is also needed. Acoustic Lining tool also allows you to insulate ducts in between two ends

  • Thermal Insulation :The rapidly escalating cost of fuel has made everyone aware of energy conservation. The need for better thermal insulation evolved from this background.
'Thermal Insulation' tool adds Thermal Insulation to components. Insulation can be of internal or external type. In case of duct partial Insulation is also possible.

  • Place Main Tee :Replaces Normal Tee with Main Duct Tee.

  • Ductulator :Computer version of standard ductulator which can be used to set the size of the duct.

Cross Section                                                                                Show Me How to do it...

A cross-sectional view portrays portion of the HVAC Ducting network when viewed from direction other than top view. These views are especially helpful when the ducting elevation is changing which is not visible in Top view.
'Generate cross section' tool redraws ducting when looked from the direction of cross sectional arrow.
Procedure is very simple. Place Cross sectional arrow facing the direction from where the cross section needs to be generated. Select Cross Sectional Arrow and the components from HVAC ducting network that should appear in the cross sectional view.
